The content of the new English HSC has broadened considerably. It now allows for the study of:

The parity of media texts with the traditional literary genres is now firmly established. It recognizes that the movement from print texts to electronic and film texts is critical to the preparation for life in the 21st Century. The implication for learning is that students will have greater awareness of how purpose, audience and medium influence what text is produced.

This change will also have a revolutionary impact on the ways classrooms will operate and will also involve teachers changing teaching styles to allow a greater variety of activities in a lesson at the same time and so assist students to develop their skills in independent learning.
