The ETA Web and Technology Committee promotes fluid, responsive, and efficient connections with and between members through the World Wide Web and other forms of technology. ETA’s online presence needs to be current, relevant to the concerns of English teachers and of use for stimulating teaching and learning in English
Key Responsibilities
Web and technology subcommittee members’ key responsibilities are the:
- Provision of advice to the ETA Board with regards to the technical requirements, ongoing maintenance, resourcing and strategic use of ETA’s online platform
- Facilitation of and ongoing co-responsibility with other sub-committees for web based components of ETA’s strategic plan including
- dissemination of professional support materials and teaching resources
- online forums for members to participate in the consultation process on issues of educational interest
- Provision of material and establishment of an editorial process for online publication
- Maintenance and monitoring of web and bulletin board content
- Ongoing evaluation of the site’s success and usefulness to the membership
- Publicising of issues of educational interest to the membership
- Teleconferencing to ascertain and express branch opinions and positions
Profile of Committee Members
A member of the Web and Technology Committee should be an individual member of ETA and demonstrate:
- Interest and willingness to engage in electronic communication
- A good working knowledge of the English curriculum in NSW
- Willingness and capacity to promote ETA at local and state level
- Responsiveness to the needs of the ETA
- Regular participation in committee meetings (physical, telephone, online) and committee work
- Attendance at ETA events
