Provide materials and models to support teachers for professional development and support the financial base of ETA.

Key Responsibilities

Create units of work and practice HSC examination packs for sale to members and non members.

Summary of Committee Members’ Roles

  • Identify and prioritise areas of need for development of publications.
  • Locate, create and manage writing teams to prepare units
  • Write practice examination packs
  • Write units
  • Coordinate consultative process for Paper 1 sample answers
  • Monitor style guide
  • Set fees for writers.
  • Ensure permission for reproduction of texts
  • Edit, rewrite and complete materials produced for publication to ensure high standard
  • Proofread materials produced for publication

Profile of Committee Members

  • A member of the Publications Committee should be an individual member of ETA and demonstrate:
  • An interest in producing English classroom materials for publication
  • A good working knowledge of the English curriculum in NSW
  • Willingness to collaborate in writing projects
  • Willingness and capacity to promote ETA at local and state level
  • Responsiveness to the needs of the ETA
  • Regular participation in committee meetings (physical, telephone, online) and committee work
  • Attendance at ETA events;

Time Commitment

  • One day per year to prepare exam packs
  • 2 hours each week in total (on average throughout the year)
