The Professional Learning Committee plans & implements professional learning activities for English teachers at all stages of their careers

- Identify points of professional need
- Plan and implement professional learning activities
- Publish annual calendar of professional learning

- Identify issues, theory, practice, points of need at local and state levels
- Develop, implement and monitor professional learning aspects of the strategic plan
- Integrate professional development activities with other services provided by the ETA.
- Act as ambassador and ETA rep by actively encouraging participation and presentations at professional learning activities
Profile of Committee Members
A member of the Professional Learning Committee should be an individual member of ETA and demonstrate:
- A good working knowledge of the English curriculum in NSW
- Interest in professional development of English teachers
- Willingness to contribute to professional dialogue
- Willingness to collaborate in planning, implementing and evaluating development activities
- Willingness and capacity to promote ETA at local and state level
- Responsiveness to the needs of the ETA
- Regular participation in committee meetings (physical, telephone, online) and committee work
- Attendance at ETA events
Time Commitment
- Average 2 hours per week but inclining heavily towards the annual conference
